TARKHEENA PRINCE, who has plenty of physical scope, is clearly progressing apace after 267 days off. His two maiden efforts last midsummer have been franked and he showed a willing attitude, racing closer to the pace than previously.
Hawk Island did not impress in his slower paces but he was the only one able to go after the winner into the final furlong. This came on the back of just an all-weather start last backend and he should improve again for the experience. He is likely to get further.
There was much to like about the racecourse debut of Light From Mars, another scopey sort who is bred to find this a minimum trip. He galloped strongly widest midtrack of the pack up the straight before just getting tired inside the final furlong.
Ascot Lime’s backend Doncaster maiden is not working out that well but he was still disappointing, failing to pick up for strong driving from fully 3f out, although he was still green when put under pressure.
Tactical Move ran better than the bare form, having a chance 2f out before finding this extra furlong too far. [BJ]
