CHIEF EDITOR was given an ultra-confident ride and confirmed previous form with those around him. The worry is that he has not stood a lot of racing and his trainer was worried that he was running up light after just two runs. He is clearly a talented sprinter in a yard that has done well with similarsorts. He has a good turn of foot and looks most progressive.
Canadian Danehill hugged the stands’ rail, which may have been advantageous and it certainly seemed to help through the final furlong as the midtrack bunch lost their way. As such the form could be dubious, although the top weight has done well on a turf surface that has not suited, despite his relish for Fibresand. The handicapper certainly has him down as in the form of his life and it is hard to argue with that.
Cape Royal, who won this at Epsom last year where he goes particularly well, ran his usual race, blazingaway but not able to take advantage of his easing rating.
Fyodor, who looked well, got bogged down on the ground but showed plenty in travelling well tracking the fast pace. Back on better ground and coming down the weights, he is one to keep on the right side. [BJ]
