Analyis of the race

A low-grade sprint handicap, confined to apprentice riders, saw HART OF GOLD defy a wide draw under a sensible ride from David Probert. Allowed to bowl along, he remained widish on the track until well into the home straight and battled home well when strongly tackled. He seems in good heart.

Campo Bueno, returning from a break of more than three months, ran a blinder and went down fighting in second.

Strathmore ran soundly, keeping on, if just lacking the pace to mount a telling challenge. The remainder were comfortably held, but Sharp Indian, making her handicap debut and lacking the experience of her rivals, ran a fair race in fifth.
