BLINDSPIN gave problems at the stalls last season - he was withdrawn on his intended final start at Newcastle - and has since been gelded. He behaved better here and produced a workmanlike display to show his rivals the way home. He has plenty of scope and, provided he goes the right way, should make his mark in handicap company at around this trip.
Eastern Hills, returning after a short break following two all-weather runs, was dropped back in trip. He picked up inside the final quarter-mile but showed a tendency to hang to his left and was never able quite to reach the winner. Imperial Djay shaped well on his debut and ought to benefit from this experience.
Great Destination, on his turf debut, ran well for a long way but was soon put in his place when the race began in earnest.
Ceduna Roadhouse came from a long way back, round the outside, to make up a lot of ground in the last 2f, but Flying Sommelier was disappointing.
