Mr Wolf led, ridden along and headed 2f out, soon driven and weakened over 1f out

DUDLEY DOCKER, who is 10lb lower on turf than he is on sand, is a tricky customer, who needs things to drop right for him. He lost ground at the start here and was last of this small field for much of the trip. But, his rider conjured a great run out of him from the furlong pole and forced him to the front inside the final hundred yards. Fit from the all-weather, he is in good nick at present.

Tencendur, who tracked the leaders, was ridden to lead well over a furlong out but was found wantinginside the last and was beaten to the punch by the winner as the post loomed.

Kensington, who was ridden close to the rail behind the leaders, was done no favours and, short of room from the 2f marker, was unable to play a part before he faded out of things.

Mr Wolf made the running but, over a trip that stretches him, was quickly put in his place when the race developed in earnest.
