Analyis of the race

A modest seller, run at good pace, saw BLUE EMPIRE produced with a run from nowhere inside the final furlong to get on top close home. This trip is an absolute minimum for him, and he did well to win.

Shot To Fame, who had 15lb in hand of thewinner on official figures, took a lead until over 1f out but, not for the first time, proved a weak finisher.

Cyfrwys, who had something to find on figures, ran a sound race but was run out of it late on.

Capistrano, back from jumping, lacked the pace to land a telling blow but stayed on well.

Bolton Hall, who has become an habitual slow starter, gave away at least eight lengths at the start. He stayed on nicely and did well to finish where he did.
