Classical Rhythm held up in last trio, ridden 3f out, came wide entering straight 2f out, strong run final furlong to lead near finish
Ocean Legend chased leader until 5f out and again 3f out, ridden to lead over 1f out, kept on under pressure until headed near finish
Maximus Aurelius set strong gallop, ridden over 2f out, headed over 1f out, kept on trying until no extra last 100yds
Astrodonna took keen hold, held up in touch, headway to chase leader over 4f out, ridden 2f out, found little and one pace after
Dancer´s Legacy in touch in midfield, ridden and effort 3f out, soon outpaced, eased when well beaten final furlong
Spectrana slowly into stride, held up in rear, ridden over 3f out, soon lost touch, no chance last 2f
West Lorne slowly into stride, always in last pair, ridden over 3f out, no impression
Calistos Quest chased leading pair until went 2nd 5f out until 3f out, soon beaten, virtually pulled up final furlong
That suited CLASSICAL RHYTHM, who was stepping up in distance and needed every yard of it. Never placed at two, although he made a promising start at Newmarket, he has reportedly grown up and has been wanting a trip. He was only sixth into the straight, but once his stamina kicked in he was always going to get there. He is at the right end of the handicap and could go on again from here.
Ocean Legend was making his handicap debut after winning on the all-weather at Southwell last time. He took over from Maximus Aurelius but could not quite hold on.
Astrodonna had no easy task on her handicap debut, on top of which she had been off the track nearly six months. She did not do too badly.
Marco Botti reported that Calistos Quest was unsuited by the ground.
