Precision Break chased leaders, pushed along when bumped and forced wide bend well over 4f out, headway on outer 3f out, left 2nd over 1f out, led 1f out, all out
Harlestone Gold steadied start, held up in rear, steady headway 4f out, shaken up 2f out, left 5th over 1f out, ran on final furlong, went 2nd near finish, not reach winner
Lord´s Bidding took keen hold, chased leaders, chased leader over 4f out, looked beaten when left in lead over 1f out, headed 1f out, unable to quicken last 100yds
Damascus Gold took keen hold, held up in midfield, headway to chase leaders over 3f out, ridden and left 4th over 1f out, kept on under pressure, last 100yds
Touchdown took keen hold, chased leader until led over 4f out, 3 lengths clear when hung badly left and headed over 1f out, still hanging and hit rail inside final furlong, not recover
Karashar slowly into stride, held up behind, headway over 6f out, chased leaders 3f out, ridden over 2f out, left 3rd over 1f out, soon weakened
Arthurian slowly into stride, always behind, ridden 5f out, no chance last 3f, some modest late headway
Talayeb chased leaders, switched left and bumped rival over 4f out, ridden over 2f out, soon beaten
Black Cloud in touch in midfield, ridden 3f out, soon weakened
Platoche led until over 3f out, soon weakened, well behind last 2f
Pharly Green slowly into stride, always behind, tailed off last 3f
Double R held up towards rear, behind last 5f, tailed off last 3f
He was starting to pull clear when he caught sight of the lorry park inside the final two furlongs and immediately made a bee-line for it, with Greg Fairley’s attempt to correct him by using his whip behind the saddle in his left hand proving to no avail. He lost both ground and momentum and then compounded the problem by diving left at the rail and colliding with it once again just inside the final furlong, this time losing his action. He was still beaten only three lengths, and if he had kept straight one can not help but think he would have come home alone, maybe by as far as eight lengths, so strongly was he travelling. Punters will be wary of him next time, but his rider will be alert to the danger and there are plenty of tracks where the horseboxes are parked well out of sight. He undoubtedly has a good deal of ability.
On their heels were Lord’s Bidding, officially rated 57 and already beaten in a handicap off 54, and Damascus Gold, who was beaten 25 lengths plus on both previous Flat starts. The form is worth little.
Talayeb, who had madea promising enough start last year, and Platoche, who was beaten a long way on his debut, were the only serious rivals to Touchdown in the betting, but both were beaten a mile and ran badly. They want leaving alone.
Richard Hills reported Talayeb had a breathing problem.
David Kinsella reported that Double R hung left.
