Shaftesbury held up in touch, ridden over 1f out, weakened final furlong
Love And Glory held up and behind, some headway over 1f out, never dangerous
Samurai Warrior always behind
Rosy Dawn led, headed over 2f out, ridden over 1f out, weakened final furlong
Mganga always behind
Tamrai Dancer took keen hold in mid-division, saddle slipped over 5f out, behind final 2f
Kryptonite held up and behind, switched right and short-lived effort on outside over 3f out
AIR CHIEF left his two-year-old form well behind when winning over an extended 1m1f at Folkestone on his reappearance and he took another big step forward, readily defying a 5lbrise in the weights. Having been well placed just off the modest pace, he found plenty when asked for his challenge and drew nicely clear in the closing stages.
He is possibly a touch flattered, as he had the run of things and several of his rivals were below form but. Likely to be turned out under a penalty, he really should be up to completing the hat-trick before the handicapper has his say.
Kyrie Eleison, winner of an ordinary Polytrack maiden at Lingfield on his reappearance, ran a respectable race in this tougher contest, but the winner was much too good.
Dancing Dik showed plenty of ability in good maiden company at up to 1m last year, but he could make little impression upped in trip on his handicap debut after six months off. He is, though, entitled to come on for this and perhaps a more galloping track will suit better, so he is by no means one to give up on just yet.
Shaftesbury shaped well at Warwick the previous week, but was well held this time.
The saddle appeared to slip on Tamrai Dancer, while Kryptonite was nowhere near the form he showed when winning off a 4lb lower mark over 1m4f at Wolverhampton on his previous start, with this ground not appearing to suit.
