Toboggan Lady tracked leaders, headway over 5f out, ridden along well over 2f out, soon driven and outpaced

Rocknest Island chased leaders, ridden along over 3f out and soon weakened

Toni Alcala held up in rear, headway 6f out, ridden to chase leaders over 3f out, soon weakened

Great As Gold tracked leaders, headway 5f out, ridden 3f out and soon beaten

This was some stamina test on the ground, and they clearly do not come any gamer than GRIZEBECK and having made the running at a pace which seemed a bit too strong, he stayed on courageously in the last quarter-mile. He had all but the second lookingin trouble with half a mile to run, and it really was some effort under this big weight, though the fact that most of his rivals did not stay has to be taken into account.

Go Amwell looked as if he was going to collar the winner turning for home, but he had no more to give in the last furlong or so. It was his first run of the campaign so he may just have needed it and there will be a staying handicap in him.

Toboggan Lady was close enough if good enough, but she did not stay, and there will be opportunities when she reverts to rather more conventional stamina tests.

Twice a winner of the race, Great As Gold's run can be forgotten, as he hated the ground.
