Analyis of the race
A bit of a surprise on paper, with the relatively unexposed CORNAS proving too good for Albinus. The winner, having only his third outing for his new trainer, found what was required in the straight to readily outpoint the runner-up who easily set the standard here on his third behind Ashkazar in a valuable handicap hurdle at Sandown last month. He looks a nice prospect as he is built to be a chaser and that will be his game next autumn.
Albinus held every chance and, as he and the winner pulled right away from the remainder, there does not appear to be any fluke about the overall form. He was a high-class horse on the Flat and it would not be a great surprise if he returned to the level over the summer.
Stagehand is a fair benchmark for the novices' grade and he was well seen off.
Camden Four could well be seen to a bit better effect in handicaps now that he is qualified for a mark.
