Lit Et Mixe in touch, outpaced 3 out, hard ridden approaching 2 out, stayed on to lead and left clear last
Melvino pulled hard, led after 1st, mistake 2nd, headed 3rd, outpaced after 3 out, left 2nd last
Decree Nisi prominent, lost place 4th, short-lived effort 3 out
Blue Buster took keen hold in rear, short-lived effort after 3 out
Start Royal held up and behind, struggling approaching 3 out
Poliglotti prominent, chased leader 4th to 3 out, soon weakened
Sharp Dresser led until after 1st, led 3rd, headed and 4 lengths 2nd when left in lead and hampered 2 out, headed and fell last
Stravara held up and behind, steady headway on inside 1st, hit 4th, led and 4 lengths clear when fell 2 out, dead
Stravara just seemed to overbalance after jumping the second-last and fell fatally when four lengths clear.
Sharp Dresser was already toiling after having taken a clear lead from three out but he had to switch round the faller and while headed by Lit Et Mixe at the last, he was not conclusively beaten as he too crumpled on landing.
LIT ET MIXE has taken time to acclimatise after his move from France but was a well-held third off the home turn after getting outpaced after a slow jump three out and hardly took any more ground out of the similarly toiling Melvino, who was hanging off the home bend. Sojust what the form amounts to is debatable. This still looked an improved effort on the easier ground but he is not overbig and he did not look particularly well handicapped.
