CAVA BIEN had never previously been tried over this sort of trip but despite stamina reservations he saw it out well, hitting the front four out and battling on strongly despite not clearing the last with much fluency. The switch to Tim Vaughan has clearly had a positive effect on his wellbeing (this is his first success since 2006) and he seems equally effective over hurdles and fences.
Our Jim travelled well but didn't jump with too much fluency. He made good headway to move into a challenging position before the second last but, despite looking a big threat approaching the last, he couldn't reel in Cava Bien. The break seems to have freshened him up and continues to look progressive.
