Analyis of the race

Last year's winner of this valuable handicap, THREE MIRRORS, repeated the feat off an 18lb higher mark. Patiently ridden by Keith Mercer, he was produced to lead at the last, where the runner-up made a mistake, and he ran on well to put the issue beyond doubt. This victory, following on from his sound effort at Aintree, confirms he's a horse in form. Decent ground is a necessity to him, and he is also well served by going left handed. He will now have a short break and the Kerry National has been pencilled-in as a likely target for him in September.

The first two came clear of the rest, headed by Endless Power, who was never able to get his own way up front, but who ran creditably after being raised 15lb for his Aintree win.

Edmo Yewkay, back up in trip, was well beaten.
