Analyis of the race

Just a modest overall gallop to this three-miler, with the tempo not being wound-up until half-way along the back straight.

QUWS LAW, pulled-up on his last two starts, both on bad ground, had sounder conditions to help him here, plus the addition of a tongue-strap to aid his breathing, which had troubled him in each of his last two races. He produced a gritty display here, seeing his race out in grand style after being strongly pressed in the straight. He is due to have an operation on his wind next week and a chasing campaign is pencilled-in for him next season.

Rathowen, who, like the winner, had been pulled-up on his last two outings (both over fences), reverted to hurdles here and came out of the clouds to finish strongly and pinch second place late in the day.

Paddy The Piper, raised 15lb for his creditable comeback victory six weeks ago, ran a fine race in fourth, albeit comfortably held.

Never So Blue, back over hurdles, was well held. Mouftari, another back over hurdles, following his latest win at Limerick, was well beaten.
