Mr Multifix, who has enjoyed a successful winter, was tried here in handicap company and was tackling a sounder surface than of late. He ran a fine race in defeat, gradually working his way into the action and staying on, albeit without possessing the necessary pace to reel-in the winner from the final fence.
Time Bandit, returning from an 11-week absence, and a heavy-ground winner overfences on his last start, came up short here off an 8lb higher mark. Feeling the pinch before the final turn, he was outpointed in the straight.
La Dame Brune, with cheekpieces fitted, remains a frustrating chaser at present.
Stand On Me failed to jump fluently.
