Pendle Forest with leaders, led 4th, headed when hit 3 out, soon weakened

Celtic Saloon held up, headway under pressure before 4 out, weakened before next

Nifty Roy held up, headway and in touch 4 out, ridden and weakened next

Bumper behind, driven 7th, never reached leaders

A 0-100 handicap run at a good pace went to LADY SAMBURY, who had run a career best when a staying-on fourth over 2m1f at Market Rasen on her previous start, and appreciated this stiffer test of stamina. Driven virtually for the last mile and a half,she gradually wore down the leader, and despite a mistake at the second-last, got on top after the last to win going away. She seems just to have come to herself, and may continue to progress.

Ever Special ran a sound race as he raced up with the pace, went clear three out but tired after the last. This wouldn't be strong form, but he's well handicapped at present and it was his best run for a while, so he could find a race shortly.

Third went to Mey Clouds, who had every chance from three out but couldn't quicken. He may find a race over hurdles, but looks more of a chasing sort.

Pendle Forest had been in good form, but after racing with the leaders, she dropped away from the third-last and probably found this testing ground against her.

Celtic Saloon made up some ground down the far side, but was beaten three out and will need to improve a good bit on this if he's to win a race.
