Escape Route chased leading pair, went 2nd well over 3f out, ridden to lead inside final furlong, cosily
Luberon led, ridden 2f out, headed inside final furlong, not pace of winner last 100yds
Rayhani took keen hold, held up in last pair, shaken up 3f out, ridden and hung left over 1f out, kept on to go 3rd inside final furlong, never troubled leading pair
Snoqualmie Boy chased leader until well over 3f out, ridden 2f out, weakened 1f out
Clipperdown steadied start, held up in touch, headway to chase leaders on outer 5f out, ridden over 2f out, weakened well over 1f out
Luberon ensured this wasn't run at a dawdle, setting pretty good fractions (although he did slow things down a touch at half way), and Escape Route settled well in the cheekpieces before moving through to challenge early in the straight andstay on strongly.
Luberon is a tricky horse to catch right but he did little wrong and was only outdone in the closing stages. He at least proved he wasn't going to repeat last year's regression after a solid first run and there are clearly races to be won with him if he can hold his form.
Snoqualmie Boy didn't fire at the business end and remains winless since Royal Ascot in 2006, but he was well backed on his first start for Jane Chapple-Hyam, which is at least a positive sign.
Clipperdown dropped right out if it having looked a threat 3f out. He's not in the best of form at present.
