Mollyatti led, clear over 2f out, ridden over 1f out, headed just over 1f out, soon weakened
Pixie´s Blue chased leader for 1f, chased leading pair after, ridden 2f out, soon no impression
Little Cee very slowly into stride, some headway bend 3f out, never dangerous
Running Supreme soon ridden and struggling, never on terms
Amicable Terms slowly into stride, always behiind, tailed off 2f out
Sue´s Hawk slowly into stride, soon recovered and chased leader after 1f, ridden 3f out, weakened quickly 2f out, tailed off
The surface will take time to bed down, understandably, but Stephen Donohoe, who rode the first winner, felt that the track was already riding quicker than on trials day.
There will be some kickback and it appears the worst of it is down the middle section of the track. But kickback on Polytrack is nowhere near assignificant as on dirt or Fibresand (i.e Southwell) and the consensus from participating jockeys after the opener was that there really will be no excuses around here; you can win from anywhere if you are on the right horse.
They went a very strong early pace, too strong really, and that played into the hands of the form horse of the race, TEMPLE OF THEBES, whose second at Kempton last year was franked by the winner, who went on to finish second in the Princess Margaret Stakes at Royal Ascot on her next start.
She sat just off the pace before swooping by pace-setter Mollyatti just before the distance to win comfortably.
Nice Dream kept on from off the pace without threatening but although she is progressing very quietly, she looks only modest and the handicaps, for which she is now eligible, look her forte.
Mollyatti simply went off too fast and didn't get home. She looks to have bags of pace and she'd be of interest over a sharp five furlongs where similar tactics would make her an interesting proposition.
Pixie's Blue was very disappointing, not picking up at all when asked and she's become very frustrating to follow.
