It's a race that should throw up some winners and, although they split into two groups, the evidence of this race and the following contest suggests there was no significant bias.
MEY BLOSSOM looked a decent filly when winning her maiden last term, but she struggled a bit after that. However, she's clearly trained on, and despite edging right in the final furlong, she kept on to finish clear of the other three on the far side.
Hamish McGonagall took a while to win last term, but this was an encouraging return. He was in front of the stands' side group in the final furlong and kept on well. He should find a race.
Cape Vale lost his unbeaten record, but from stall six, was by no means disgraced after racing towards the middle; it will be a surprise if he doesn't do a fair bit better next time.
President Elect was well drawn, and shaped well enough to suggest there is a race in him.
Another to run well was the more exposed Style Award, who came home well after meeting trouble over 2f out.
Kinout was second home on the farside.
