Quite a competitive handicap was won in good style by TRANSCEND, whose stable is in such good form. He raced close to the pace, went for home over two out and scored a shade comfortably. He won over 6f with cheekpieces on his final start last term, but is clearly equally effective at this trip and without headgear, and although he'll go up a fair bit for this, he has clearly come back in good form and may continue on the upgrade.

Extraterrestial improved on his reappearance run by finishing a clear second, and as he's well treated on the best of his form, he is very much one to be interested in now.

Third went to Signor Peltro, who challenged wide and could never get on terms. He was returned from a long break, and was also running without blinkers which he wore when winning over 6f when last seen out, and he's another who should be winning soon, perhaps with the headgear back on over a shorter trip.

The Osteopath, who had been in good form, could never land a blow but the first seven were clear of the rest.
