Joss Stick held up in touch, ridden and headway just over 1f out, led inside final furlong, pushed out
Diademas chased leading pair, ridden and switched right just over 1f out, ran on under pressure to go 2nd near finish
Irish Music steadied after start, took keen hold, held up in last pair, pulled out and ridden over 1f out, ran on under pressure, not quite reach leaders
Penrice Castle took keen hold, led, ridden well over 1f out, headed inside final furlong, no extra last 100yds
Our Kally always in last pair, in touch, ridden 2f out, kept on but never pace to challenge
Lady Vibeeka chased leader, ridden 2f out, weakening when short of room inside final furlong
JOSS STICK looked to improve for cheekpieces in his last two races at the end of last year, although it was a weak maidenhe finally won after promising efforts in a claimer and handicap that have worked out well enough. He does not do a lot in front even after being produced quite late, and that should stand him in good stead with the handicapper. He looks to be progressing.
Diademas added another placing to his CV and is clearly not straightforward as he was threaded through against the inside rail to challenge the front-running Penrice Castle. He looked a possible winner as he dived through strongly but could not go through with it.
Penrice Castle is coming down the handicap but does not look to have progressed from two and was swamped in the final furlong.
Our Kally, another small filly, was not disgraced against race-fitter rivals. She handled the track well, hugging the rail and was keeping on when it was all over to suggest a step back up to 6f might help with the handicapper having eased her again from last year.
