BAYBSHAMBLES took the honours after getting on top close home. The winner, who progressed with racing last season, looks the type to continue to climb this season, being a half-brother to Strensall, who improved with age. He was nicely ridden.
Obe Royal, fit from the all-weather, ran well in second, while Brut, who showed plenty of his proven speed, looks to be coming to hand.
Colorus showed plenty of dash before fading, while Rothesay Dancer failed to pick up when daylight finally came for her on the rails.
Winthorpe found this minimum trip against him.
