VAN BOSSED made the most of his proven fitness and stuck to his job in determined style. He had various little problems last year, but he has had his wind done in the meantime and looks on good terms with himself.
Ink Spot, who finished off his race down the middle of the track, did all his best work late on to clinch second. He should not be long in winning, though this drop would be an absolute minimum for him.
Harbour Blues came home well to show promise for his future on turf.
Desert Clover came out best of those which raced on the far side, just ahead of Jonny Lesters Hair, who made an encouraging seasonal debut, along with Irving Place, who was having his first start since changing stables.
