The ground was on the soft side of good.

Tim Easterby has made an annual habit of saddling a fancied runner in this race and he won it for the third year running with newcomer ANGLEZARKE, who was the pick of the paddock. In a race where nothing seemed keen to make the running, she was allowed to bowl along, but she was looking about her in front, and, with ears pricked, wasn't doing a tap. Drifting slightly to her right, she was shaken up approaching the last and was always doing enough to prevail. She could be useful.

Caranbola, who lost ground at the start and ran green early, picked-up well inside the last two furlongs and came home well. She should win a race.

Shadow Bay, having his third run, is not progressing at present.

Crewezando was not disgraced on his debut.

Dispol Diva missed the break and was green.

Dougie Peel was coltish in the preliminaries and finished well adrift.
