Tallest Peak always behind

Analyis of the race

A moderate maiden, won resolutely from the front by ALWAYS A ROCK. This half-brother to smart sprinter Amadeus Wolf had made much of the running when second over a mile at Lingfield last month and this 7f may have suited him better.

Opera Prince had not shown a lot in two runs last season and has been gelded since. The operation seems to have worked and, though the gelding showed signs of greenness, hanging under pressure, this was a big step up on last year's form.

St Michael's Mount raced keenly on this first outing since September and that cost him in the closing stages.

Tantris did not have the best of runs in the straight and, considering he is bred to need much further, this was an encouraging first run of the season for him.
