Westport held up, ridden and headway over 1f out, one pace final furlong
Teen Ager held up in rear, ridden and headway on outside well over 1f out, one pace final furlong
H Harrison soon led, ridden and headed 2f out, weakened over 1f out
Inch Lodge soon prominent, ridden and weakened over 3f out
Byron Bay soon chasing leader, weakened 3f out
Divertimenti held up, short-lived effort over 2f out, eased over 1f out
Red Romeo, who had raced alone up the near side when well beaten at Doncaster last weekend, was back to his best form here. However, he found the concession of weight all round beyond him and the handicapper probably has his measure at present.
Harare, who had hung left when third over 1m here last time, did so again this time and he remains a somewhat quirky individual. However, he was by no means disgraced, especially as he is currently racing off a mark higher than he has ever won off.
Byron Bay seems to have two ways of running and clearly had an off day.
Divertimenti, allowed a soft lead when beating Count Ceprano here last time, could never get anywhere near the front this time and, forced wide on the home turn, he was soon beaten.
