Kandahar Run had looked a colt of some potential when winning here last autumn and put in a fair enough effort on his reappearance here. He was a little keen early on and wasn’t helped by the pace, but was brought with a steady challenge inside the final two furlongs and came through to have a crack at the winner inthe final furlong. He just appeared to blow up in the closing stages and will be all the better for this run. His trainer will keep him to a maximum of a mile and a quarter at present and he should soon be improving on this effort, but he didn’t strike as a potential Derby winner on this showing.
Redolent had finished fourth in a muddling event on the all-weather at Lingfield on his reappearance, but he ran a similar sort of race here. He travelled well enough towards the outside over three furlongs out, but hung right and weakened in the final furlong, and the jury remains out on him at present.
Yahrab made the running until headed by the winner and then weakened, and there are no excuses for him with two outings already under his belt this term.
Frankie Dettori reported that Pegasus Again had a breathing problem on pulling up. (TE)
