Kiribati King in rear, soon pushed along, headway on outer over 2f out, stayed on to lead inside final furlong
Bouggler tracked leaders, not clear run on inbner over 1f out, led 1f out, headed and no extra inside final furlong
Georgie The Fourth held up in mid-division, effort over 3f out, kept on one pace final 2f
Pure Scandal dwelt, soon tracking leaders, challenged over 2f out, weakened approaching final furlong
Italian Goddess tracked leaders, hampered path after 2f, weakened over 1f out
Brave Boogie held up in rear, driven along over 5f out, lost place 2f out
Novestar led, ducked left path after 2f, quickened over 3f out, headed and weakened 1f out
Viscount Monty tracked leaders, ran wide bend after 1f, lost place over 2f out, soon behind
KIRIBATI KING took time to find his stride, but powered down the inside to get on top well inside the last. A stronger end-to-end gallop would probably have suited him even better.
Bouggler, making his handicap debut, and having his first outing of the year, had to wait for a gap to open before he struck the front at the furlong pole. He did nothing wrong thereafter, but he found the winner too strong late on. He should win a race.
Pure Scandal was comfortably held and Italian Goddess, having had every chance, gradually dropped away after the final sprint developed. A truer test over this distance would surely suit her better.
Novestar set a modest gallop, but was unable to raise his game sufficiently when push came to shove.
