BLACK TOR FIGARRO showed just moderate form in three runs over 1m as a two-year-old but, stepped up significantly in trip on his return from a near five-month break, he landed a bit of a touch on his handicap debut. He never really travelled that well and was off the bridle about four out, but his rider never gave up and he stayed on very strongly in the straight.
This one gives the impression he will be suited by even further.
Shaftesbury came from well off the pace and looked a real threat around two furlongs out, but his effort just flattened out a touch close home. He is still a maiden, but showed enough to suggest he can win a similar race at some point.
Tasheba, who had not shown much prior to winning his maiden at Yarmouth on his final start last year, ran a respectable race under topweight on his return from nearly six months off the track.
Double On Red looked to have most of these in trouble at the top of the straight, but she found little for pressure after heading over to the stands' rail. This trip seemed to stretch her stamina.
An improved effort could have been expected from Dusk considering that he was stepped up significantly in trip on his return from six months off, but he was well held.
