INSPIRINA had been in cracking form on the Polytrack earlier in the year and he continued where he left off when last seen in February, with a game effort on this switch to turf. He was unproven in the conditions, but Carrie Ford said he had gone well on easy ground at home and as it turned out the soft surface suited well.
He gives the impression that he has plenty more to offer, but he is considered quite a thickset type, and his connections will be reluctant to run him on really quick ground. In the longer term, there is a chance he will go hurdling.
Dove Cottage's four previous wins had been gained on ground good or quicker, but he handled the testing conditions just fine and ran well off the back of a six-month break. He kept on gamely when headed in the straight and his effort is particularly creditable considering he was kept honest up front early on.
There was a gap back to Snowed Under, who was well held after six months off. His last five wins have come at Leicester.
Most Definitely travelled well early on, but he didn't get to the leaders on the bridle as he often does, and weakened when coming under pressure. He is very much a bridle horse and probably had too much racing to do on this easy ground.
Cheshire Prince's two wins last year were gained on quick ground, and he probably didn't have conditions to suit after 236 days off the track.
Prince Charlemagne was well beaten, but he will drop in the weights after this and can do better under a less-aggressive ride on better ground or Polytrack.
