Calypso Girl made all, ridden over 1f out, stayed on well
Shampagne close up, effort 2f out and soon every chance, ridden and wandered over 1f out, kept on under pressure inside final furlong
Eilean Eeve slowly into stride, took keen hold and soon chasing leading pair on outer, effort 2f out, soon ridden and one pace
Ridgeway Silver slowly into stride, in rear until stayed on final 2f, never a factor
Amorachy dwelt, soon chasing leaders, ridden along over 2f out and soon weakened
Strictly Royal chased leaders, ridden along after 2f, soon outpaced and behind
She had shaped promisingly when seventh of 19 in the Brocklesby at Doncaster last month, and made the most of the experience she had gained there by seeing off newcomer Shampagne’s late challenge.
She handled the soft ground well, but there is no reason why she should not improve again on a better surface.
Shampagne was sent off favourite and, though he showed good speed throughout, he ran about under pressure in the final furlong. That was no doubt down to greenness and he should come on a lot for this experience.
This second race in three days may have come a bit quick for her, but she needs to learn to be sharper away from the stalls if she is to build on the promise shown first time out.
