Baileys Outshine stumbled start, held up, headway on inside 2f out, soon every chance, ridden over 1f out, not quicken inside final furlong
Nigella slowly into stride, pulled hard, clipped heels over 3f out, headway over 1f out, one pace final furlong
Comptonspirit always prominent, one pace final furlong
Contentious pulled hard, led after 1f, hung right from over 2f out, ran wide and headed well over 1f out, soon weakened
Twosheetstothewind pulled hard, prominent, every chance 2f out, hung right to stands' side well over 1f out, soon weakened
Baileys Outshine stumbled leaving the stalls but recovered quickly andran right up to the form she had shown when winning here in January. But her form is not really progressive and she will be vulnerable to less-exposed sorts in coming weeks and months. Nigella, who paid for taken on Almaty Express last time out, was patiently ridden on this occasion but was inclined to be a bit keen, which contributed to her running into the back of Comptonspirit after a couple of furlongs. Comptonspirit was not disgraced, but could improve a bit yet if cheekpieces, which worked for her last year, are reapplied at some stage.
