Montzando always prominent, ridden over 2f out, switched right over 1f out, led inside final furlong, ran on

Punching always prominent, went 2nd 3f out, ridden and hung left over 1f out, one pace
Night Prospector raced wide, held up towards rear, ridden well over 1f out, never troubled leaders
Heron slowly into stride, soon recovered, led after 1f, hard ridden and headed inside final furlong, weakened
Vlasta Weiner slowly into stride, outpaced, ridden over 2f out, short-lived effort on inside well over 1f out
Lithaam led 1f, prominent until weakened over 2f out
Just Puddie outpaced, not much room on inside well over 3f out, always in rear

Shatter Resistant was a beaten favourite on four occasions, including in this grade, when trained by Mick Channon last season and is winless after 12 starts. But he ran well from a bad draw here, having been dropped in and then needing to be switched to deliver his challenge in the final furlong. He may not be entirely straightforward, but he does not need to improve much on this effort to be winning at this level.
Punching, who has proved expensiveto follow this year, hung under pressure on this occasion and was beaten a furlong out. He seems better suited by 6f and may have been forced to do too much too early to stay competitive here, but his backers are certainly feeling the pinch right now.
