Home soon in midfield, ridden and struggling over 4f out, effort under pressure and in touch over 2f out, soon beaten
Bon Ton Roulet dwelt, held up in rear, going well enough 4f out, effort 3f out, soon driven and no progress
Didana led to over 2f out, weakened rapidly
Border Defence took keen hold, mostly chased leader to 3f out, weakened rapidly, tailed off
Una Auroraborealis took keen hold, prominent to halfway, weakened rapidly soon after, tailed off
Herrbee in touch when saddle slipped and ran wide bend halfway, soon pulled up
SILVER SPRUCE was worst affected in the scrimmaging in the pack but still emerged a ready winner on this racecourse debut. He looked to idle in front with the race won before the final furlong and there should be improvement to come, so it will be interesting to see how the handicapper reacts to the bare beating of two low-grade performers.
King Supreme saw out the trip better than last time on this return to turf, but could not put his all-weather fitness to advantage, which is worrying for the summer.
Agglestone Rock was held up and was one of those to take against the slowing of the pace and has done well to plug on for fourth.
Herrbee's saddle slipped, racing into the loop at the bottom of the course and he was pulled up.
Didana failed this new stamina test under a most positive ride. She can prove the form wrong back in trip on a sounder surface.
