The winner, who failed to make any impression in the May Hill at Doncaster last September in contrasting conditions, had landed her maiden in good style here on good to soft ground. The more testing going probably proved the key here when she kept on well on her first start since her trip to Britain. Her trainer said afterwards she had worked well with Lush Lashes recently and was giving her a chance coming here. She'll step up to 1m2f and was described as a filly for next year.
Emily Blake was rated 12lb lower than the winner at 82 coming into this but she performed a career best display in the process. Passing the two-furlong marker she was still travelling with her rider almost motionless and she just found one too good in the end. She is sure to get a hike after this but looks a filly on the upgrade.
She's Our Mark was a notable improver last season going from a modest mark of 74 to her current 106. The three-time winner performed respectably given it was her first outing of the year but better ground and a step back to 1m should bring about some improvement.
Grecian Dancer is much more effective on good ground so in the circumstances wasn't disgraced to finish ahead of Campfire Glow. The favourite when fifth for last year's Goffs Fillies Million had previously won the Group 2 Debutante Stakes from Listen in heavy ground when Prima Luce was back in fifth. She probably needed this and is probably best judged when she encounters better ground next time.
Sole overseas challenger Silver Touch failed to recapture her best form on her seasonal debut. While she won the Citerion Stakes on soft ground at Newmarket last June, this was dead ground which most likely didn't suit her.
The rain that fell on Sunday morning went against last year's Irish 1,000 Guineas runner-up Dimenticata when she couldn't maintain her momentum up front at the business end while the same could be said of Cheyenne Star and last year's Queen Mary winner Elletelle who also both struggled in the ground.
