Having been ridden quite prominently, he travelled ominously well to take over proceedings at the head of the field after jumping the second last flight. When kicked on Brave Right showed an excellent turn of foot to hold a clear advantage turning into the straight. Indeed, he held a hefty advantage when jumping the last but memories of that Pierse Hurdle performance started to filter when Ring The Boss came out of the chasing pack to continuously close the gap. But the winner had just about enough in the locker to hold on for victory by a neck. He has been a model of consistency all throughout the season.
Ring The Boss began to cut down Brave Right's lead inside the closing stages and after having run well at Aintree prior to this effort, this was another decent display. He had turned into the straight in sixth place and jumped the final flight in fourth so he could make his presence felt over 3m next season if staying hurdling.
Lyceum was ridden more prominently however and moved into fourth approaching the third last but he never looked winning despite running a satisfactory race while Streets Of Gold was another of the bottom weights to get involved but was one paced from the turn-in.
Heavenly Blues was settled in the rear in the early part of the race and did creep closer without ever getting in a serious blow and he was nearest at the finish while Knight Legend put up a creditable effort on his return to hurdles. Pierse Hurdle winner Barker never got involved having raced in mid division while the same can be said for Tiger Cry, who like Knight Legend was returning to hurdles after some decent runs over chases.
