Salford City was given a terrific ride by Paul Carberry and it was no disgrace to be beaten by a genuinely very good horse, but once again the question mark over his stamina came into play a bit ashe didn't really get home. Tracking the leader, the rider kicked him on two out and on another day may well have stolen the race. It was a career-best effort but he does look as though he's going to be a difficult horse to place next season.
The return to two miles on this quicker ground didn't play to the strengths of Fiveforthree. He went out in front and jumped superbly, but he was unable to go with the runner-up when he kicked on at the second last and from there he just stayed on. It may wellbe the last time we see him running over this trip, certainly on this quick ground.
Quinmaster is another horse about whom stamina question marks have been plentiful. Held up off the pace today, he could never get into the race from when the race developed two out and just kept on at one pace.
Migmatite could never get into the race, neither could the long absent Golden Grace, while rank outsider Storm Plan was tailing off from halfway.
Jumping frailties once again proved the achilles heel of Cork All Star. Running third, he made a mistake at the third and paid the price for another error when giving Barry Geraghty no chance of staying on board at the third last. He was still travelling well enough at the time. [JOH]
