Out The Black well placed behind leaders, blundered 3rd, progress on outer 16th, went 2nd after 3 out, led next, driven and held on final 100yds
Briery Fox patiently ridden in rear, still last of main group after 14th, progress on outer from 16th, ridden to press winner on long run-in, just held last 100yds
Snoopy Loopy mistakes, made most, driven 4 lengths clear 3 out, headed next, held in 3rd when swerved late to avoid omitted last fence
Native Coral settled well in rear, some progress 11th, no headway from 15th, back of group after 3 out, stayed on to take 4th on long run-in, no danger
Cool Roxy pressed leading pair, lost place 14th, ridden next, no progress at back of group 3 out, plugged on again on long run-in
Iris Royal pressed leading pair, still disputing 2nd when not much room and mistake 3 out, weakened and mistake 2 out
Tango Royal settled in midfield, effort 15th, disputed 2nd briefly after 3 out, weakening when mistake 2 out
The Bandit with leader to 4 out, mistake next and weakened rapidly
Rakalackey mistake 1st, held up in rear, hampered 10th, blundered next and jumping went to pieces, tailed off when pulled up before 15th
Kelrev held up in rear, badly hampered and unseated rider 10th
El Vaquero tracked leaders, 6th when fell 10th
Model Son well in rear, brief effort 11th, weakening when blundered 14th, tailed off when pulled up before 16th
Limited Edition held up in rear, in touch but no real progress from 15th, 7th and well beaten when pulled up flat, broke down
Plenty still had chances turning for home, but it was OUT THE BLACK who got the money, perhaps helped by having been able to chase a loose horse in the closing stages. This had not previously been a fruitful season for the ten-year-old, but he came here well handicapped off a mark just 3lb higher than for his Bangor win 12 months ago. A trip to Perth for a valuable 3m handicap is now on the cards.
Briery Fox has been in great heart this term and he ran another cracking race under a patient ride. This was his third consecutive second, but there was nothing wrong with his effort and he ought to find a winning opportunity before long.
Native Coral, whowas reported to be sore after the race, never really got into contention, while Cool Roxy will always be seen in a better light at Fakenham.
Iris Royal ran his best race for ages and gave him some cause for optimism, as did The Bandit, butTango Royal was not on one of his going days.
Limited Edition was described as lame on pulling up.
