Storey Hill made virtually all, joined and ridden over 1f out, held on well, won on the nod
Van Bossed held up behind leaders, rapidl progress on wide outside to join winner over 1f out, upsides after and hanging right, not quicken near finish
Valhillen in touch in rear of main group, shaken up 2f out, stayed on final furlong to take 3rd near finish, no chance
Wavertree Princess missed the break, recovered to chase leaders on inner over 3f out, effort over 1f out, soon outpaced
Brassini outpaced in last and soon well adrift, stayed on final furlong, no chance
Your Pleasure took keen hold, held up behind leaders, close up over 1f out, soon outpaced, faded
Enodoc with winner to 2f out, weakened rapidly over 1f out
A huge gelding, the winner is held in quite high regard by Derek Shaw, and it's easy to see why given how much speed he was able to show here. He could be a well handicapped sprinter as the front two pulled a long way clear and the runner-up is no slouch. Connections are thinking of going to Thirsk next week for a 5f sprint, if it doesn't come too soon, but the plan is definitely to stick to this trip for the time being and given his size, there could be plenty more improvement in the locker.
Van Bossed ran an excellent race in defeat, charging down the outside to lay it down to the winner in the final furlong. He was progressive last term and on this evidence he is still going the right way.
Wavertree Princess ducked down as the stalls opened causing her to lose ground at the start. She soon got back into contention but she probably did a little too much to get there and her finishing effort was a little tame.
Brassini was taken off his feet before keeping on while Your Pleasure was too keen in the early stages and weakened out of it.
