The ground was quite testing after rain overnight. This maiden hurdle produced an interesting winner in BLUEGUN, who landed a maiden point-to-point in November on his only previous start. Racing in touch, he led going to the second-last and ran on strongly to score driven out. He is a grand sort with plenty of scope and looks just the type to make up into a decent chaser.

Adroit Approach was a touch keen early, but he came through to challenge at the third-last and kept on. He should win a race.

Pressgang showed plenty of promise in bumpers two seasons ago, but he isn't proving as good over hurdles. He was having his first attempt at this trip, but tended to run in snatches until coming through to lead going to the third-last. Hard driven going to two out, he faded back into third. He ran well enough to suggest he can win a small race, though, and may well prove better at 2m.

Wide Receiver wasn't disgraced on his first run over hurdles, while General Potter made much of the running but dropped away from the third-last and Murphys Beau was far from fluent.
