Richard Rowe, who believes fences have made a man of the winner, thinks he wants decent ground and at least this trip, and the way he saw this out it’s hard to disagree. He’s had a pretty good season and he’s probably got even more to offer next term.
The consistent Its Crucial looked to have got this sealed when skipping several lengths clear after the 11th fence, but he was outstayed close home. He still hasn’t won this term, but he deserves to find a race.
Helen Wood didn’t jump with the greatest of fluency and she was never really in it, while Misty Dancer also didn’t jump very well, and although he made some headway he was toiling by the second-last.
