Impressive when winning a novice handicap here last month, the five-year-old was8lb higher here and tackling a new trip, but he had no trouble seeing it out having travelled and jumped sweetly, and Tom George and his team have done a good job in getting him back to his best. His dam Roseate Tern was second in an Oaks and connectionsare likely to stick to hurdles with him next term.
Lindop, another tackling this trip for the first time, ran by far his best race of the season, moving through to close in on the leaders after the second-last, before staying on strongly. He wasn’t fluent at the final hurdle and may have even won if he’d been better at it, he’d certainly have finished closer.
Helens Vision, running in handicap company for the first time, was always close to the speed before finding the front three staying on stronger. She ideally wants 2m, so she ran well here.
Chance Du Roy stayed on up the inside, but he couldn’t muster the speed to land a blow, while South O’The Border was just one paced in the closing stages and may appreciate a drop back in trip. (GB)
