Scots Dragoon took keen hold behind leading pair, went 2nd after 3 out, shaken up after 2 out, still over a length down last, ridden and found enough to lead final 100yds
Migwell led, hit 8th, ridden before 2 out, hung left and drifted back right before last, headed final 100yds, kept on well
Fountain Hill tracked leading pair, ridden from 9th, lost place and struggling 3 out, kept on again to go 3rd before last, no chance with leading duo
Silencio held up in 5th/6th, effort to close on leaders when not fluent 3 out, went 3rd soon after, not fluent 2 out and held, mistake last
Mossville pressed leader, driven 3 out, soon faded and lost place
Herecomestanley not always fluent, held up in last, effort after 10th, tried to close on leaders from 3 out, no impression next
Drumbeater held up in rear, blundered 7th, never going well after, lost touch before 3 out, virtually pulled up flat
Goodnight Tom held up, blundered 6th, weakened after 9th, tailed off and heavily eased before 2 out
SCOTS DRAGOON has had an excellent season, and he made it four wins from five starts by accounting for a field that contained some in-form horses. Given a confident ride, he appeared to appreciate returning to 3m after a defeat over a half a mile less on his previous outing, and with ten lengths back from second to third, this probably rates a useful effort froma horse who seems to only do just enough, which is clearly no bad thing when competing against the handicapper.
Migwell made a valiant bid to make all and was only headed 100 yards from the finish. The eight-year-old had been out of form this season, but he seemed to enjoy racing from the front.
Silencio did not help himself by fluffing the final three flights, but the mistakes made no difference to his finishing position.
Mossville was not in the sort of form that carried him to victory at Kempton, while quick ground over hurdles does not play to the strengths of Herecomestanley.
