Stolen Moments jumped boldly, drew 6 lengths clear 2 out, idled badly after last and ridden out
Pass It On chased leaders, not fluent 13th, ridden and outpaced 3 out, went 2nd next, no impression, jumped right last
In Accord jumped slowly 3rd, mistake 9th, chased leaders until ridden and outpaced 3 out, plodded into 3rd close home
Nikola mistake 10th, chased winner, ridden 3 out, relegated to 3rd next, weakened to lose 3rd near finish
The Speaker midfield, lost place 9th, ridden and struggling after 13th, not fluent next, plugged on
Polinamix prominent, not fluent 12th, ridden and weakened 3 out
Romeo tubed, numerous mistakes, last when blundered 5th, lost touch before 8th, hopelessly tailed off when pulled up 3 out
Mickey Pearce jumped slowly 3rd, towards rear and not going well, reminder 7th, fell heavily next
The Empty Tin reminder after 4th, behind, lost touch before 10th, tailed off and pulled up 3 out
Pass It On had been let down by his jumping on recent outings, most particularly at Cheltenham last time, and he was now tried in a first-time eye-shield. He was still not foot-perfect and still looks a bit hit-or-miss, but he returned to something like the form he had shown when winning at Market Rasen in November and had secured second place some way out.
Nikola had had plenty of use made of him and a less stiff 2m6f should be within his range, but this stiff track found him out.
