Smith said: "He went up a long way for winning two for us, but then got a leg which resulted in him dropping to a more workable mark."
Mystical Star had been similarly out of sorts but was nevertheless well-in on the best of his old form. He moved up menacingly turning for home but couldn't get to grips with the game winner.
The Laying Hen's jumping was more proficient here, enabling her to stage a revival. This was arguably a career best and gives her connectionshope she can pick up a small race.
Carroll's O'Tully was unable to adopt his favoured front-running role and disappointed.
Another Chat weakened out of a good early position and might have found this coming too soon after his Wincanton run.
