Stravaigin, raised 7lb for her latest Newcastle success, made a bold bid to follow up but was worn down in the dying strides. She is in good nick.
The first two eventually drew clear of Solway Bee, who, nevertheless, ran a sound race until being outpointed from the final flight. She should pick up a little race. Four-time chase winner Snowy, who made much of the running, shaped well in his first hurdles outing since 2004. Classic Act ran a respectable race, but the remainder finished well held, and they included Devil's Disguise, who, running for the second time in under a week, made a bold bid until running himself to a virtual standstill from the final flight.
