Royal Mackintosh chased leaders, mistake 4 out, soon led, stayed on strongly from 2 out
Stark Raven prominent, led 11th to after 4 out, kept on from 2 out, not reach winner
Cybora held up, headway and prominent when slipped on bend before 4 out, effort next, one pace from 2 out
Russian Sky led, blundered 1st, headed 11th, close up, driven 4 out, kept on same pace under pressure
Windygate prominent until ridden and weakened from 4 out
Kirkside Pleasure held up towards rear, not fluent 9th, ridden and outpaced after 11th, no danger after
Mrs O´Malley in touch until weakened from 11th
Low Reactor held up, blundered 10th, no danger after
Whispering Moor held up, headway to chase leaders 13th, every chance 4 out, weakened 2 out
Versus close up, blundered and lost place 6th, rallied after 9th, weakened from next, pulled up 12th
This was just a run-of-the-mill handicap, but there was plenty to like about the winning performance of ROYAL MACKINTOSH, who jumped well in the main, travelled strongly and found plenty when asked to go and win his race. He was 8lb higher here than when gaining a course and distance win last month, and there could be more to come from him.
Cybora, back in a handicap, seemed to slip quite badly on the final turn. He was found wanting when the chips were down. Long-time leader Russian Sky failed to jump as well as he can under his amateur rider and, although he rallied late on, he was comfortably held.
