Colditz chased leaders, ridden along 4th, soon lost place, headway 3 out, went 2nd 2 out, stayed on to lead last 50yds
Dippy Duck tracked leaders, led 3 out, shaken up and 9 lengths clrear next, 4 lengths ahead last, headed towards finish
Santera held up, headway 5th, went 2nd after next, weakened 2 out
Kinfayre Boy chased leaders, weakened 6th
Goldan Jess held up towards rear, some headway 5th, weakened next
Kalatime in rear, some headway 5th, jumped left and lost place next
Film Festival led to 2nd, ridden 5th, weakened next
Loch Awe prominent, driven along 2nd, lost place 4th, tailed off next
Strathaird led 2nd until 3 out, soon lost place and behind
Rhine Rewler held up in rear, behind and reminders 4th, tailed off when pulled up before 3 out
Analyis of the race
They went a very strong gallop for the grade and in the conditions, so it was no surprise that the leaders failed to get home.
COLDITZ was a middle-distance performer on the Flat but seemed to relish this stiffer test of stamina, as he was off thebridle a long way out but stayed on well to lead after the last. Quite what the form is worth is hard to say.
Dippy Duck raced in touch, went clear after three out, but didn’t get home, and though not hard ridden between the last two, he made a mistake at the last and had nothing left. He’ll win a similar race, as he was well clear of the rest.
Strathaird set a strong gallop and, not surprisingly, dropped right out, and Film Festival, another to race up with the pace, also dropped away to finish well beaten.
