Analyis of the race

A maiden bumper in which mares far outnumbered geldings, and not a race to get carried away about.

The extended trip in testing conditions made this tough for such inexperienced horses, and the two who coped best were CELIAN and Rebeccas Choice.Celian had been beaten a long way on his debut at Haydock a year previously, but that was in a far better race. Up there all of the way here in a race contested largely by horses from stables not usually associated with bumper winners, he was kicked on approaching the straight but was all out to hold on.

Wade Farm Billy was no match for the firsttwo but did best of the newcomers in a clear third, ahead of Winnie Wood and Easter Legend, who had both raced towards the wide outside pretty much throughout.

Matt Crawley reported Miss Nut Nut was unsuited by the ground.
